Read India improves the reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills of children between 6-14 years. India is home to 40% of the world’s illiterate. Children suffer the most with nearly half of India’s 210 million children unable to read or write. Without education, these children are vulnerable and unlikely to rise above the poverty of previous generations.
Every product purchased from the Reddendi India range will help to teach a child to read and write in India
We have partnered with Pratham UK; an amazing charity that was set up in the Mumbai slums in 1994. To date Pratham has reached over 1 million children in in rural India and 300,000 children in cities through its Read India programme with an active presence in 17 states, 32 cities and 28,000 villages.
Pratham is very efficient with only 5% of its donations going towards administrative expenses.
We have agreed that for every Reddendi India Tie purchased we will donate enough money to help teach a child in India to read and write for a year.
